REAL WEDDINGS

Brittany and Bryan

All of Their Favorite Things

Three years ago, Brittany woke to the sound of Forever by Ben Harper. The room was decorated with hundreds of pictures of her and Bryan together. Bryan then got down on one knee and proposed.

On July 10, 2010, Bryan West and Brittany Yerema-Hoefel said their “I do’s” in Toronto’s Distillery District. The ceremony and reception took place in the enormous Fermenting Cellar.

Brittany, an interior decorator and event coordinator, bought her dress from Kleinfeld and her cousin created the hand-beaded, jewel-encrusted satin sash. For her wedding day shoes, she wore hot pink high heels, which she bedazzled with “I do” on the bottom. The pale pink bridesmaid dresses had an encrusted jewel at the waist.

The Fermenting Cellar was transformed into a romantic setting complete with purple lighting, transparent chairs and candles lining the aisle. A string quartet played before and after the ceremony, a minister from Brittany’s hometown performed the service, and two artists immortalized the ceremony on canvas. The bridal party exited to the sounds of Coldplay’s Yellow and went off to have photos taken in the Distillery District. Guests were left with information about the bride and groom’s favourite hotspots in the District that they could enjoy.

Upon their return, guests found that the Fermenting Cellar had been transformed into an elegant dining area, with lounge furniture, round tables, photo booth and buffet stations.

Dessert included both cupcakes (Brittany’s choice) and a traditional cake (her mom’s choice), which had a French vanilla interior with white Lindt chocolate butter cream filling. There was also a candy bar filled with a colourful selection of tasty treats and bags that could be filled and taken home. And, the late night buffet station contained the groom’s favourite foods — mini-hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, chili and build-your-own poutine.

Brittany’s stepdad’s band played a few musical sets as guests danced and filled their tummies. The couple even provided flip-flops for those whose feet may have started aching.

Bryan and Brittany’s wedding captured everything the couple holds dear: family, generosity, delicious food, fun times, attention to detail and unmatched style.
