A Fresh “Green” Wedding Venue – Introducing Le Belvédère

The view is absolutely breathtaking! Le Belvédère’s setting in the hills near Wakefield, QC offers picturesque gardens, a cliff-top gazebo and modern dining facilities for a storybook wedding. This newly built facility has the most up-to-date “green” features to minimize its environmental impact. A truly inspired wedding venue that is ready to make your day.

The vision took seven years to realize from its conception. Brian Fewster purchased the land and 3 years ago he and his partner, Jessica Davey really started working the plan. Le Belvédère originally started as a small retreat facility that would be outfitted with state-of-the-art environmental features. With some research and design modifications, it became a full service wedding venue for about 160 people. They listened to what brides told them they wanted – a beautiful natural setting with a refined modern facility.

Wedding ceremonies are conducted in the gazebo that overlooks the valley below. It is breathtaking as a ceremony location! They have an indoor area ready to go in case of uncooperative weather.

The over 8000 square foot building awaits you for a fabulous reception. It features a large dining hall and cocktail lounge that are meticulously decorated. Le Belvédère uses the freshest ingredients produced and harvested in the Outaouais region. Their talented culinary team customizes a menu designed especially for your special day. Their standard wedding package includes table linens, napkins, flatware, china, glasses, tables and chairs.

Le Belvédère will be the largest certified passive building in North America referring to a standard for energy efficiency in reducing its ecological footprint. It results in an ultra low energy building that requires little energy for space heating or cooling. For example, all the heat produced in the kitchen is captured and redirected to heat water. The walls are extra thick for insulation and the building is positioned to take maximum advantage of the sunlight.

An additional special feature is a beautiful 2600 sq ft log home nestled in the woods just around the corner. The guesthouse can fit about 10 people in three separate suites, including a private honeymoon suite. The two lower level suites are complete with their own kitchen or kitchenette, cozy seating area, full 3 piece washroom and separate bedroom. The private upstairs Honeymoon suite is complete with a spectacular vaulted ceiling and large jacuzzi tub.

Le Belvédère opened this year with already 21 weddings on the books. They are already booking for 2013 (I’ll be there next year for a wedding). You can expect that they will continue to improve the grounds and perhaps build more overnight accommodations. The modern outfitted eco-building nestled in the forest will no doubt quickly become a favorite for brides and grooms.
