Dear Nindi,
I am newly engaged and very excited to start planning my wedding. I will be having guest coming from other countries and lots of dietary restrictions. While my fiance has been in Canada for a while, I am fairly new and don’t know my way around the city very well. We are not sure about budget or any of these things but are aware there will be costs associated with the wedding. Should I research an event planner or purchase a book to begin with?
Dear Getting Organized,
While hiring actual Wedding Planning services would be extremely helpful for you, I would recommend starting with a journal that you can even keep as a keepsake. The right planner will have a section you can use on Wedding Planners you have met with until you narrow down the one you want to work with.
How to find the “best” wedding planner is subjective, as it depends on your specific needs, but there are a few highly-rated and popular options available at Indigo that stand out based on customer reviews and their features:
Top-Rated Wedding Planners at Indigo:
* The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner & Organizer: This is a very popular and well-regarded choice. It is praised for being comprehensive and having a lot of helpful features like worksheets, checklists, and pockets for storing materials. Customers appreciate that it’s a binder format, which makes it easy to add and remove pages.
* The Wedding Planner & Organizer by Mindy Weiss: This planner is also a top contender with strong customer reviews. People like its structure, with strategically divided sections that make it easy to organize. Some reviewers have noted that it is a great keepsake and helps guide you through all the intimate details of wedding planning.
* The Budget-Savvy Wedding Planner & Organizer by Jessica Bishop: If your primary focus is on staying within a budget, this book is highly recommended. Reviews highlight its helpful tips and resources for planning a wedding without breaking the bank. It’s a great choice for couples who are conscious of their spending.
* Wedding Planner by Frances Lincoln: This planner has an excellent rating and is praised for being a helpful, all-in-one resource. Reviewers state that it includes crucial questions to ask vendors and provides all the tools needed to stay on track.
Key Features to Consider When Choosing:
* Format: Do you prefer a bound book or a binder with removable pages? Binders, like The Knot’s, offer flexibility, while books are often more portable. You have ability to customize and include documents you collect along the way. With a bound book you are less likely to lose material.
* Content: Some planners are more focused on budgeting, while others offer a more general approach with checklists and timelines. Consider what is most important to you.
* Style: Planners come in various designs. Some are more minimalist, while others have more decorative or floral designs.
Ultimately, the best wedding planner for you is the one that aligns with your planning style and priorities.
Wishing you an amazing time as you plan for your dream day!
xoxo
