MIXING IT UP with your ’maids

It used to be that bridal attendants wore identical dresses in different sizes. Regardless of age, colouring, size, shape and style differences, “the maids” donned the chosen gown and made the most of a day supporting their close friend or family member. Often though, after the party was over, that dress landed at the back of the closet, never to see daylight again.

Happily—for everybody—today’s wedding plans and looks are a lot more creative and a lot less formulaic. Forget the matchy-matchy stuff. Not only are the bride’s and groom’s attendants more varied, so is their attire.

Here are some top trends and fashion-forward options for fall ’25 and winter ’26:

  • Statement-making reds. Turn heads in eye-catching hues.
  • Shades of green. Earthy and flattering, greens are on trend.
  • Chic black. It’s always in fashion and perfect for an upscale, cold-weather wedding.
  • Mocha mousse. Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2025 is showing up in bridal and wedding attire as a warm brown shade that’s full of richness and perfect for fall.
  • Patterned dresses. What? Yes! You can make it work with your wedding vibe.
  • Differing, complementary colours to match your wedding design’s colour palette. Just keep the shades in the same tonal range and use the same fabric; the cut of each dress can be chosen to flatter the wearer.
